Our client is a Legal 500 law firm with numerous awards including The Times Top Companies to work for 2024 and Top Private Client Firms 2024, just being a couple, and with a strong reputation for providing high-quality, personal service to a broad range of clients including high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, charities, and businesses, they now have a fantastic opportunity for a Trust and Tax Manager to join its Private Client Department.
This role involves managing the administration of multiple trusts and preparing annual tax returns for beneficiaries and other clients. The successful candidate will act as the named fee earner on each matter, working closely with a Partner who retains overall responsibility.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
- Preparing self-assessment income tax and land disposal CGT returns for trusts, estates, and individuals
- Preparing annual trust accounts and managing associated compliance
- Preparing inheritance tax returns (exit charges, ten-year charges, termination of life interests)
- Coordinating payment of tax and communicating with HMRC
- Ensuring FATCA and CRS compliance
- Registering and maintaining trust details on HMRC’s Trust Registration Service
- Liaising with trustees, beneficiaries, investment advisers, and other professionals
- Attending trustee meetings as required
- Monitoring key dates (e.g., beneficiary birthdays) and ensuring all deadlines are met
The ideal Tax & Trust Manager will have the following:
- Qualifications: ATT or CTA preferred
- Minimum 3 years in a similar role
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience using CCH tax and accounting software highly desirable
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective time management with the ability to manage a busy workload independently
- Self-motivated and comfortable working both autonomously and as part of a team
