Are you an experienced compliance professional looking for a flexible and rewarding opportunity? A well-established, multi-site law firm in the Oxford area is seeking a Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) to oversee and manage regulatory compliance across the firm.

The Role: As the firm’s COLP, you will play a key role in ensuring adherence to SRA regulations, managing risk, and maintaining the highest standards of professional conduct. This role offers flexibility and can be undertaken on either a part-time or full-time basis, depending on the candidate’s availability and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee compliance with SRA regulations, AML requirements, and internal risk management procedures.
  • Act as the firm’s main point of contact for regulatory bodies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust compliance policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Handle regulatory reporting and ensure the firm meets all legal and ethical obligations.
  • Monitor and manage risk, ensuring effective resolution of compliance-related issues.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience as a COLP or in a senior compliance role within a law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of SRA regulations, AML, and risk management in a legal setting.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and advise stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proactive and strategic approach to compliance and risk management.
  • Ability to work autonomously while maintaining a collaborative approach.
