About the Role
An established law firm in the Staffordshire area is seeking a dedicated Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) to oversee and manage its compliance framework. This pivotal role is essential for ensuring that the firm adheres to legal and regulatory standards, with a focus on safeguarding ethical practices and minimizing risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the firm’s compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Develop, implement, and monitor compliance policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular audits, reviews, and training sessions for staff to reinforce compliance standards.
- Liaise with the SRA and other regulatory bodies to ensure up-to-date compliance.
- Respond to internal and external compliance inquiries and manage potential breaches.
- Maintain and update the firm’s risk and compliance registers.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in a compliance role within the legal sector.
- In-depth knowledge of SRA regulations and compliance requirements for law firms.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to train and guide staff on compliance matters.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
