Conveyancing Assistant

My client have been a well established law firm based in Harrogate for over 250 years.

They are looking for a Legal Assistant to join their conveyancing department and to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks.

Reporting to director/head of department and assisting fee earners with various administrative duties.

Training will be given so experience not necessarily the most important, but attention to detail and previous office work experience is preferred.

Suitable for someone who is looking to gain work experience in a busy office environment.

Main Responsibilities

Opening new files • Dealing with correspondence • Demonstrate a high standard professional approach to clients • Great attention to detail • Polished telephone manner • Works well with others and a team player • Highly organised • Dictation

Additional responsibilities include taking telephone queries including quotes – being the first point of contact for new clients; providing updates to clients, other solicitors and estate agents; being the gatekeeper when needed for phone calls; copy typing and tracked changes; attention to detail and accuracy very important; preparing files for completion and helping other assistants when needed in the department.

The role is office based 36.25 hrs per week. Monday -Friday 08:30 – 17:00 with 1.25 hrs for lunch. Salary range is £23-£27k. 24 days holiday plus bank holidays per year and the office closes for Christmas. This year from 20 Dec until 2 Jan 2025. Auto enrolment into a pension scheme, possibility of a Parking permit available to the successful applicant, with the opportunity to learn and develop in a great working environment.
